The holidays can be a tough time mentally for anyone. With the pandemic ongoing, some of us may have experienced tough challenges. We've decided to create a series of activities for everyone in the family to keep us emotionally balanced! Feel free to create your own twist or add to the activity!
Day 9: Cook or Bake something!
Do you have a family recipe? Your child's favourite dish? Even if you're not great in the kitchen, cooking together is one of the best ways to bond with your child. And they also learn a great skill for one they are older and living on their own!
Research has shown that cooking together as a family creates bonds and reduces undesirable behaviours such as clinginess. Although it can be cumbersome to have children in the kitchen it can be beneficial emotionally and mentally for them in the long run. Give your child specific tasks and talk through what you're doing, pretend you're cooking tv show hosts for laughs!
